Courtesy of Hunter Athletics– For the first time since 2008, the Hunter wrestling team will be sending multiple wrestlers to the NCAA National Championships. Cary Palmer and Jesse Bader will begin their journey to a national championship on Friday March 13th at the Giant Center in Hershey, PA.
Palmer, with a record of 31-1, will be wrestling at 141lbs and is ranked #5 in his weight class. The junior will take on Layten Binion from North Central College in Illinois, which if Palmer wins, could set up a rematch with Brandon Jones of NYU, whom Palmer lost to in the semifinals of the East Regionals.
Bader enters with a 33-4 record and will be wrestling at 165lbs but he isn’t seeded. Bader’s first match will be against Ethan Farmer of Wabash College, which if Bader wins, will set up a match against #1 seeded Andrew Stelert of Wartburg College.
