CHSAA Division Championships – NYC

The Monsignor Farrell Lions marched to their 13th consecutive Catholic City Championship. Iona Prep hosted the pre-qualifier for the City Championships next weekend held at Monsignor Farrell. The Lions had 9 wrestlers in the finals, bringing home eight individual champions and one runner-up.

The best match of the day was the finals of the 113lb weight class with Dan Adams (Farrell) defeating #1 seed Dan Alexander of Fordham Prep. It was a back-and-forth match with Adams recording a reversal and 2 near fall in the closing 15 seconds of the final period to take the match. After the match, Adams said “Never underestimate the value of a big gas tank”. Referring to his conditioning which was the difference in the match.
Teams will be in action next weekend at Catholic States. Monsignor Farrell will play host of the event on February 10th and 11th. Teams from New York City, Long Island, and Buffalo will be competing for a spot at the New York State Championships to be held in Albany, NY on February 23rd and 24th.
